Self-Realization Fellowship
(SRF) last year announced that they have withdrawn their plans for
a major expansion on Mt. Washington. The plans included a private
mausoleum for the body of Paramhansa Yogananda. Many people ask
'why are you opposed to SRF taking Yogananda's body and installing
it in a shrine on SRF property?' Read the
many comments of people opposed to a sectarian, SRF shrine for
Yogananda's body.

This pause in the action provides an opportunity
for all parties to seriously consider the idea of a non-sectarian
Universal Shrine to house Yogananda's body.
Many Yogananda devotees feel that the
Master himself would be pleased to see his disciples
cooperating in such a project.
A
Non-Sectarian Shrine
Yogananda began a religious movement that, in his words, 'is not a
sect'. He taught that his mission 'emphasizes the fellowship of religions', not the
'dogmatism of the churches'. A non-sectarian shrine would truly
honor Yogananda and his teachings.
